Trust your timing.
Pick a tempo, a time signature, and your bars. Or go Endless and just hit record.
Feel a tempo, put the idea down, and it’s already looping. Stack your layers. Write the words. One sitting, one app, and you’re writing your next song.

The 4am problem
Voice memos will record your idea, but you can’t build on a memo. A DAW will build it, but by the time the session’s open, the spark has moved on.
Songwriting is the missing middle: quick as a memo, with enough room to turn it into a song.
01 / Catch the spark
Play it through once and it starts looping. Add the harmony. Try the odd idea. Keep the part that makes you feel something.
A little loop to play with
A real song idea, recorded in Songwriting. Your microphone stays off.
Pick a tempo, a time signature, and your bars. Or go Endless and just hit record.
Stack up to 12 layers. Every layer has its own waveform, volume, mute, and FX.
Wired or Bluetooth. The app measures the delay and remembers your gear, so the layers land in time.
02 / Find the words
As you type, rhymes find each other, matched by sound, not spelling. Each rhyme family takes a color, and you can see the shape of a verse the way you’d hear it.
And when you want them, chords go right over the words. Letters or Roman numerals. Whichever way you think.
Your words. A little more color. ↗Try your own line. Rhymes light up as you type.
03 / Take it with you
From the first hum to the rehearsal room. Keep the whole idea together, then take it wherever you’re headed.
Out of your phone. Into the room.
Export a mixed master, individual stems, or a beautifully set lyrics-and-chord sheet.

On your wrist
Set a tempo with the crown. Feel the count-in. Hum it into your Watch. It’s waiting on your phone when you get home.

On iPad and iPhone Duo
Your parts on one side. The lyrics and chords on the other.
Ready for iPhone Duo. Open it like a book, or stand it half open with the words on top.

Good questions
Yes. The first time you use a new pair, the app plays a quick sound and listens for it to come back. It measures the delay, then remembers that pair for next time. Wired headphones work too.
Yes, on wired headphones. Hear Yourself sends what you’re recording to your headphones, through the phone, with a small delay. Headphones plugged into an audio interface hear you with no delay at all. Most Bluetooth headphones are too slow for it, so slip your headphones off one ear. One ear on the mix, one on the room, just like tracking in a vocal booth.
It’s the step before. Catch and shape the song while it’s still alive, then export your mixed master or stems into Ableton, or any DAW, when you’re ready for full production. You can also bring a rough mix or stems into Songwriting to work out your next part.
No. They stay on your phone unless you turn on your own iCloud backup, which is off by default, or share a song with someone. We never collect your data, so there’s nothing to sell.
